How does the Hourly Paycheck Calculator work?
Gross pay per paycheck is hourly rate × hours worked × weeks per pay period. That gross is then run through the same federal, FICA and state withholding as a salaried paycheck.
Federal income tax uses the 2026 IRS brackets and standard deduction, and FICA is 6.2% Social Security plus 1.45% Medicare.
State income tax is entered as a flat effective rate; use 0 for states with no income tax.
For example, $22 an hour for 40 hours a week, paid biweekly with a 4% effective state rate, comes out to about $1,428 take-home per check, out of $1,760 gross.
