How does the Military Time Converter work?
Military (24-hour) time counts hours from 00 to 23. For hours 1 to 12 AM the hour is unchanged, and from 1 PM on you subtract 12. 1530 is 15 − 12 = 3, so 3:30 PM.
Midnight is 0000 (12:00 AM) and noon is 1200 (12:00 PM). In speech, 0830 is 'zero eight thirty' and 1500 is 'fifteen hundred'.
Frequently asked questions
What is 1500 in regular time?
1500 is 3:00 PM. Subtract 12 from any hour after 12 to get the PM hour.
Is 2400 or 0000 midnight?
Both are used. 0000 starts a new day, while 2400 is sometimes written for the end of the previous day.
How do you say military time?
Say each pair of digits, using 'hundred' for :00. 0700 is 'zero seven hundred', and 1345 is 'thirteen forty-five'.
How do I convert 12-hour time to military time?
Keep AM hours as they are, with 12 AM becoming 00. For PM add 12 to the hour, except 12 PM which stays 12. 3:30 PM is 1530.
