How does the Temperature Converter work?
A temperature converter changes a reading between the Fahrenheit, Celsius and Kelvin scales. The formulas are °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9 and °F = °C × 9/5 + 32.
Kelvin is Celsius plus 273.15, and 0 K is absolute zero. For example, 70°F is (70 − 32) × 5/9 = 21.1°C, which is 294.26 K.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?
Subtract 32, then multiply by 5/9. For example, 98.6°F is (98.6 − 32) × 5/9 = 37°C, normal body temperature.
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply by 9/5 (1.8), then add 32. For example, 25°C is 25 × 1.8 + 32 = 77°F.
At what temperature are Fahrenheit and Celsius equal?
At −40. Setting F = C in F = C × 9/5 + 32 gives −40, so −40°F equals −40°C.
What is 70°F in Celsius?
70°F is about 21.1°C.
